Mumbai Terror Attack: On November 26, 2008, 10 Lashkar-e-Taiba militants entered Pakistan by sea and opened fire, killing 166 people, including 18 security personnel, and injuring several others.
Those killed in the attack included Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) chief Hemant Karkare, Army Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, Mumbai Additional Police Commissioner Ashok Kamte, Senior Police Inspector Vijay Salaskar, and Assistant Sub Inspector Tukaram Ombale.
The militants targeted Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Oberoi Trident, Taj Mahal Hotel, Leopold Cafe, Cama Hospital, and Nariman House Jewish Community Center, also known as Nariman Light House.
Security forces later killed nine militants, including the country’s top commando force, the NSG. Ajmal Kasab was the only terrorist caught alive. Four years later, on 21 November 2012, he was hanged.
Even After 10 years, the scars of the Mumbai terror attack remain on the Indian diaspora and every citizen is unlikely to forget those horrific memories. On the other hand, we recount the bravery acts and heroic sacrifices of our heroes who sacrificed their lives on the line of duty for protecting our Motherland and its citizens.
Trishul Defence Academy salutes the heroes of the 26/11 attacks and stands strong with their families who lost them for the nation. If it wasn’t for them then India would have been under terror attacks. To foil the terrorist plot of Pakistan our security forces gave in everything and eventually succeeded.
