Maitri Setu Between India & Bangladesh Inaugurated

NEW DELHI: A new trade corridor between India and Bangladesh came into existence with the inauguration of ‘Maitri Setu’ by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi along with other infrastructural projects in Tripura. The newly constructed trade corridor by National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd is expected to turn over a new leaf and boost existing trade between India and Bangladesh.

‘Maitri Setu’ with a length of 1.9 km connecting Sabroom in India with Ramgarh in Bangladesh and has been constructed over the Feni river which flows between the Indian boundary in Tripura and Bangladesh.

As the name suggests, ‘Maitri Setu’ represents and indicates the rising bilateral relations and friendly ties between India and Bangladesh. Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi said that India is keen to develop the entire region as a trade hub. He also expressed confidence that recent moves have taken our friendship with Bangladesh to the next level and will continue to grow further in the days to come.
