Schools and colleges closed till May 15 PRAYAGRAJ: The Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday postponed board examinations till May 20 and all schools in the state will remain closed till May 15. The new exam schedule will be decided in the first week of May after reviewing the pandemic situation of the state. The decision comes at a time when the Central Board of Secondary Education has cancelled class 10 and postponed class 12 exams, in view of the rising number of Covid-19 cases across the country. Chinese Surface-to-Air Missile Systems Under India’s Lens
NEW DELHI: Chinese surface-to-air missile systems, including the HQ-9 air-defense system with a 250-kilometer strike range, are still stationed in Ladakh, close to Indian territory. According to top government sources, Indian agencies are closely monitoring these air-defense batteries, which could pose a danger to Indian fighter planes and helicopters operating in the area. Sounding Rocket RH-560 Launched by ISRO
BENGALURU: In a major boost to research activities, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has launched the sounding rocket called RH-560 from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) Sriharikota Range (SHAR), with the aim of studying attitudinal variations in the neutral winds and plasma dynamics. According to the press communiqué issued by ISRO, “Sounding rockets are one or two-stage solid propellant rockets, which will be utilized for investigating the upper atmospheric regions for space research. “They also serve as easily affordable platforms to test or prove prototypes of new components or subsystems intended for use in launch vehicles and satellites. Maitri Setu Between India & Bangladesh Inaugurated
NEW DELHI: A new trade corridor between India and Bangladesh came into existence with the inauguration of ‘Maitri Setu’ by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi along with other infrastructural projects in Tripura. The newly constructed trade corridor by National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd is expected to turn over a new leaf and boost existing trade between India and Bangladesh. ‘Maitri Setu’ with a length of 1.9 km connecting Sabroom in India with Ramgarh in Bangladesh and has been constructed over the Feni river which flows between the Indian boundary in Tripura and Bangladesh. Indian Armed Forces Give their Nod for Procuring Armed Drones from US
MUMBAI: Buoyed with the operational capability of two leased Sea Guardian drones, the Indian Armed forces have zeroed in on and given their nod for procurement of 30 armed versions of the American unmanned aerial system. The big deal is pegged at a whopping $3 billion deal. Earlier, some objections were raised over the deal but finally, all the three wings of armed forces have unanimously agreed to give their consent for the purchase of 30 armed versions of the US unmanned aerial system.
