Branches In AFCAT : AFCAT also known as Air Force Common Admission Test is a written test conducted by the Indian Air Force twice every year to include officers in the Indian Air Force. The written examination is followed by an Air Force Selection Board interview for the shortlisted candidates.
Through AFCAT you can apply for all the three branches of IAF which are Flying Branch, Technical Branch and Ground Duty branches. The eligibility criteria are different for different branches.
While only three branches have short service commission for women, there is a permanent service commission for men as well as short service commission for men. However, only a short service commission for Flying Branch is through AFCAT. Thus if you clear the written test and then also clear the AFSB then you have a chance to join the Air Force Academy.

Types Of Branches In AFCAT
Branches in AFCAT Entry are broadly classified into three branches, which are as follows –

Administration -Passed 10+2 and Graduate Degree (Minimum three years degree course) in any discipline from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks
Education – Passed 10+2 and Post-Graduation with 50% in any discipline including integrated courses offering PG (Single degree without permission to exit and lateral entry) and with 60% marks in Graduation in any discipline.
Meteorology –
Post Graduate Degree in any Science stream with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers put together (Provided Maths and Physics were studied at Graduation Level with a minimum of 55% marks in each).
