India giving 270 MT of food grains to Sudan, South Sudan, Djibouti, Eritrea

According to the details given by the Ministry of External Affairs, ‘INS Airavat’ has left Mumbai port on 24 October by taking food aid in the form of flour, rice and sugar. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, India is providing humanitarian aid to Sudan, South Sudan, Djibouti and Eritrea while upholding its tradition of helping the people of Africa in times of need.

This assistance is in the form of 270 metric tonnes of food grains for the people affected by natural disasters and Covid-19 epidemic.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the Indian Navy vessel is currently at the port of Djibouti. He has provided 50 MT food grains. From there, the vessel will reach Mombasa (Kenya) on 20 November and will land 70 metric tons of food grains to assist South Sudan.

As part of the program, ‘INS Airavat’ reached the port of Sudan on 2 November and transported 100 MT of food grains there. It then reached Massawa port in Eritrea on 6 November and gave the country 50 MT of food grains

The Indian Mission in Djibouti tweeted that India’s Ambassador Ashok Kumar handed over 50 metric tons of foodgrains to Djibouti’s Ministry of Social Affairs and Solidarity, Ifarah Ali Ahmed, under Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief.
