The Ramanujan Award 2020 for Young Mathematicians was presented to Dr. Carolina Arrujo, mathematician of the Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on 09 December 2020 in a virtual ceremony. This award is distributed every year.
Awarded annually to a researcher from a developing country and funded by the ICTP (International Center for Theoretical Physics) and Department of Science and Technology, Government of India in collaboration with the International Mathematical Union, the award is presented to Dr. Carolina for her outstanding work in algebraic geometry. His research work focuses on birational geometry. Its purpose is to classify and describe algebraic types of structures. The award is funded by the Department of Science and Technology in collaboration with the International Center for Theoretical Physics and the International Mathematical Union.
This award is given every year to young mathematicians in developing countries, who are below 45 years of age. The award is presented in memory of Srinivasa Ramanujan. It is also known as the International Center for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) Ramanujan Award. The award is presented by the International Center for Theoretical Physics, located in Italy. Funds for this are provided through the Albell Fund.
