First non-Indian to receive Ramanujan Award – Dr. Carolina Araujo
The Ramanujan Award 2020 for Young Mathematicians was presented to Dr. Carolina Arrujo, mathematician of the Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on 09 December 2020 in a virtual ceremony. This award is distributed every year. Awarded annually to a researcher from a developing country and funded by the ICTP (International Center for Theoretical Physics) and Department of Science and Technology, Government of India in collaboration with the International Mathematical Union, the award is presented to Dr. Carolina for her outstanding work in algebraic geometry. Given for His research work focuses on birational geometry.
