India Tests BrahMos Missile with Sukhoi Aircraft

On 30 October 2020, the Indian Air Force successfully tested the fighter-capable version of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile. It was fired from a Sukhoi MKI-30 aircraft into the Bay of Bengal. It is considered an important achievement for the Air Force amid the ongoing border dispute with China.

According to media reports, the Sukhoi-30 aircraft travelled to the Bay of Bengal, filling the air itself. The aircraft took off at around nine in the morning and it fired a missile at its target about 1.30 in the afternoon. During its flight, the warplane travelled 3,500 kilometres.

The special thing is that after about three hours of flying by Sukhoi MKI-30 aircraft, this missile was fired and before the missile was fired, the aircraft was refuelled in the battle. The missile targeted a sinking ship with complete accuracy in this test and desired results were achieved in the test. According to reports, the Sukhoi MKI-30 aircraft travelled for about three hours, after which the missile was fired.

This is the second such test of BrahMos missile in recent times. Earlier, by flying from the Kalikunda airbase of Bengal, he had targeted his target near Lakshadweep in the Arabian Sea. The Indian Air Force also has a special squadron, which is in a maritime role. This squadron is stationed at Thanjavur.

In October itself, a successful experimental trial of a BrahMos missile with a firepower of more than 400 km was conducted in Balasore, Odisha. The Indian Air Force is fitting BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles on more than 40 Sukhoi fighter jets.

The Indian Navy successfully test-fired the anti-ship missile from its warship INS Kora in the Bay of Bengal on 30 October 2020. The Navy did this under an exercise that reflected its combat preparedness in strategic maritime zones around India. The Indian Navy said the missile targeted the target at the maximum range with utmost precision.
