What Is Permanent Commission in Indian Army

Just like any other venture or company who recruits people. Indian Army too has some set of procedures applicable on the staff working in it.

One of these is the commission they got recruited in. Indian Army basically recruit candidates in two types of Commission called Permanent Commission i.e. PC and Short service commission i.e. SSC.

Before the historic judgement of Supreme Court, all the jobs of women in Indian Army came under short service commission only.

PERMANENT COMMISSION IN INDIAN ARMY

As we’ve already said that Indian Army has two commissions namely Short Service Commission and Permanent Commission.  In case of a short service commission , a officer in this entry, after 10 years of service (which is extendable up to 3 more years) can leave Army. (If not opted to serve further after 10 years of service). Such cases are not granted Pension and Ex servicemen Officer Status.

Whereas a Permanent Commissioned Officer can serve as far as he is fit for that category. They serve longer and can be promoted for higher ranks. Their Post retirement is pensionable and are known as Ex servicemen Officer. Permanent commission is till officer superannuated on completion of age criteria.
