Territorial Army-Age Limit, Syllabus, Eligibility and Form Notification

The Territorial Army is a part of Regular Army and its present role is to relieve the Regular Army from static duties and assist civil administration and other important issues. It is maintained to provide units for Regular Army as and when required.

The Territorial Army is not an active force but a Passive force. Basically it is an organization of volunteers who receive military training for a few days in a year so that in case of an emergency they can be mobilized for the defence of the country.

People like Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Kapil Dev & Abhinav Bindra are part of Territorial Army.

Territorial Army invites applications for both the post i.e. for Jawans and Officers. For Officers category both civilians and ex-defence officers can apply.

FOR JAWAN CATEGORY:

Eligibility

Age – 18 to 42 years
Educational Qualification – Matriculation

Selection Process

Applicant will have to report to the unit or the Recruiting Office on designated dates,  as advertised in Newspaper and Indian Army Website i.e. joinindianarmy.nic.in, for tests as per laid down procedures. Selected candidates have to go through the Medical Board and Police Verification.

FOR OFFICER’S CATEGORY:

Territorial Army releases notification twice a year

• Between November & December ( For ex. Officers)
• Between May & June ( For civil citizens)

Territorial Army Examination Procedure For Ex. Serving Officers:

Eligibility

1. Only Ex Service Officer can apply ( commissioned officers only)
2. Nationality:Citizen of India.
3. Age Limit:18yrs to 42yrs
4. Educational Qualification:Graduate from recognized university.

Selection Process

• The applied candidates will be called at Additional Directorate General Territorial Army, Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence for screening by the Army Headquarters Selection Board (ASB).
• Recommended candidates will undergo Medical Examination at Armed Forces Clinic, New Delhi, followed by their Police Verification for final selection.

Training

• One month Basic Training in the first year of commission.
• Two months Annual Training Camp every year including the first year.

Territorial Army Examination Procedure for Civil Citizens:

 Eligibility

1. Nationality : Indian
2. Age Limit : 18yrs to 42yrs
3. Educational Qualification:Graduate from recognized university.

Selection Process

• The applicants with correct application form will be screened with the help of Written Examination and Interview by a Preliminary Interview Board (PIB).
• Successful candidates will further go for test at SSB ( Service Selection Board).
• After SSB the candidates will go for Medical examination for their final selection.

Training

• One month basic training in the first year of commission.
• Two months annual training camp every year including the first year.
• Three months Post Commissioning training within first two years at IMA, Dehradun.
