International Women’s Day week begins
International Women’s Day week is celebrated as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav by the Ministry of Women and Child Development from 1st March. As part of this week-long celebration, various events and social media campaigns covering various topics, which will be related to women empowerment and safety, are being organized by the ministry. Russia assures flow of defence supplies to India
Russia has assured India that defence supplies will not be hit by the western sanctions announced against Moscow and that alternative mechanisms are in place to ensure that crucial contracts such as the S-400 air defence system are not disrupted. India, Oman hold five-day air exercise ‘Eastern Bridge-VI’
The Indo-Oman exercise, Eastern Bridge-VI (2022) was successfully conducted at Air Force Station Jodhpur from 21 to 25 February 2022, informed the Ministry of Defence on Saturday. According to the ministry, the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) participated with Indian Air Force (lAF) in the exercise which was aimed at providing operational exposure and undertaking mutual exchange of best practices, towards enhancing operational capabilities of both the Air Forces. Russia won’t bid for Indian Navy’s new submarine plan
Russia has said that it will not take part in the Indian Navy’s ongoing procurement plan for new submarines, confirming that the Indian government has been formally notified of the decision. The Rs 43,000 crore plan to acquire six new submarines under Project 75I has also hit delays early in the process, with other foreign contenders and Indian partners seeking additional time to formulate their proposals. 3 Pak intruders killed by BSF in Samba
Three Pakistani intruders were gunned down on Sunday by the BSF as it scuttled a major narcotic smuggling attempt and recovered 36 kgs heroin worth crores of rupees along the International Border in Samba sector of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said. India offers 80 Afghan cadets 1 year training
India has offered a one-year training programme for around 80 Afghan cadets following the completion of their courses in various Indian military academies. The Afghan embassy in India welcomed the offer considering the uncertain future facing the young cadets in view of the prevailing situation in Afghanistan. The Afghan cadets will be given training under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Programme (ITEC) of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). “Eighty young Afghan cadets who recently graduated from various military academies in India have been offered a 12-month training program in Effective English Communication for Business and Office,” the Afghan embassy said in a statement.
