Indian Armed Forces will be equipped with hi-tech weapons, Defence Acquisition Council approves project of 7965 crores
Taking another step towards the modernization of the Indian Army, the Defense Ministry has approved a proposal of Rs 7965 crore to purchase modern weapons and military equipment. This also includes the purchase of 12 light utility helicopters from Hindustan Aeronautics. The procurement proposal was approved in a meeting of the Defense Acquisition Council (DAC), the highest decision-making body of the Defense Ministry. The major projects approved today include 12 light utility helicopters, short range hun mounts, Lynx gun fire control systems and mid-life upgrades of Donear aircraft, according to an official statement from the ministry.
