ISRO set to launch Chandrayaan -2 on July 15.

ISRO has confirmed the launched of India’s second moon mission, Chandrayaan – 2. ISRO chairman   K Sivan  told and confirmed it. It will launched and powereded by GSLV Mk-3. The launch is expected to be at early morning 2:51 am on July 15 from Sriharikota  space centre in Andhra Pradesh and landing is hopeful on September 6 or 7.

ISRO says it have same strategy as Chandrayaan – 1.

“We are expecting to find water. We never left any stone unturned and we’ve conducted thousands of tests,” says ISRO .

About Chandrayaan – 2

• The total weight of missile is 3.8tonnes and it costs Rs. 603 crore.The ost of vehicle GSLV is aroud 375 crore.
• It is made up of three modules, an orbiter, a lander named Vikram and a rover named Pragyan
• It will land near Moon’s South Pole. to land on moon it will take 15 minutes .
• There are several reasons to select Moon’s South Pole to land,like solar power, flat surface presence of water and minerals.
•  After landing door of rover will open. The rover and lander will have a life of oe lunar day . They will do all experiments for that day. however the orbiter has one year life.
• We will try to take images of raocks for elements like magmesium calcium and iron and a source of water.  It will also help in knowingb the facts about the exosphere of the moon.
• The orbiter and lander can directly communicate with earthwhile rover cannot because of some limitations.
• The instrument for experiment is mounted on Lander.

Background

• The upcoming lunar mission is an advanced form of Chandrayaan – 1 which was launched 10 years ago.
• Chandrayaan was India’s first lunar probe  which is also launched by the ISRO in 2008
• It includes lunar ,orbiter and Impactor. The vehicle through which it launched is PSLV-XL
• It was weighted 1.4 tonne .
• It was lost by ISRO.
