Former UP CM Kalyan Singh passes away

Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and veteran BJP leader Kalyan Singh passed away on 21 August 2021. He was 89 years old. He was ill for a long time and was admitted to a hospital in Lucknow. Many leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party and other parties, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, have expressed grief over his death.

Yogi Adityanath has announced three days of state mourning in Uttar Pradesh and a public holiday on 23 August. Former Chief Minister Kalyan Singh’s condition had remained critical for a long time and he was put on life support system. He was on ventilator for several days.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the demise of Kalyan Singh. PM Modi tweeted and said that I am sad beyond words. Kalyan Singh ji… politician, experienced administrator, grassroots leader and great human being. He has an indelible contribution in the development of Uttar Pradesh. Spoke to his son Shri Rajveer Singh and expressed condolences. om Shanti.”

I have no words in this time of sorrow. Kalyan Singh ji was the owner of a great personality along with being a great politician and efficient administrator associated with the land. His contribution in the development of Uttar Pradesh is indelible. My deepest condolences to his family and supporters in this hour of grief. om Shanti!
