First women Lieutenant Colonel from Arunachal Pradesh - Ponung Doming

In today’s world women empowerment had been seen in every field like in entertainment, sports many other field now they are showing their empowerment in defence also.

Shaliza Dhami, an Indian Air Force Wing Commander became the country’s first female officer to take over as the Flight Commander the second in command of a flying unit.
Punita Arora was the first woman officer to become Lieutenant General in the Indian armed forces.

Now another name of lady is introduce in the list Major Ponung Doming who became the first Lieutenant colonel . She is from Arunachal Pradesh . She is a resident of Pasighat in East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh, commissioned into the Indian Army in 2008. She completed her graduation in civil engineering. She served the UN Peace keeping force in Congo in 2014.

Women in Indian Army

The Indian Army for the first time invite the applications for the soldiers general duty for female candidate. Before this invitation females candidates are appoint only for officer’s rank . In India females are supposed for non – combat units .
