Tri-service exercise conducted in Nicobar

A multi-domain tri-service exercise is currently in progress at the strategically important Nicobar group of islands of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, military officials said on Wednesday. As part of the exercise, troops of the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force were mobilised for amphibious landing in close coordination with the paradrop of airborne troops, they noted. Swadeshi next-generation AERVs inducted into Army

The first set of indigenously developed next-generation Armoured Engineer Reconnaissance Vehicle (AERV) was inducted into the Corps of Engineers of the Army on Tuesday, a defense release said. Army chief General M M Naravane inducted the vehicles and flagged them off in a ceremony at the Bombay Engineer Group (BEG) at Khadki near Pune. The system has been designed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and manufactured by Ordnance Factory Medak & Bharat Electronics Limited, Pune. India successfully tests Pralay missile off Odisha coast

India on Wednesday successfully test-fired short-range, the surface to surface-guided ballistic missile ‘Pralay’ off the Odisha coast, DRDO sources said. The solid-fuel, battlefield missile developed by Defence Research Development Organisation is based on Prithvi Defence Vehicle from the Indian ballistic missile programme. The missile, launched from the APJ Abdul Kalam Island around 10.30 am, met all the mission objectives, the sources said. A battery of tracking instruments monitored its trajectory along the coastline, they said. ‘Pralay’ is a 350-500 km short-range, surface-to-surface missile with a payload capacity of 500-1,000 kg.

IAF aircrafts crashed : Seven aircraft of the Indian Air Force have crashed in the last two years, the government said in Rajya Sabha on Monday. India deploys first S-400 air defence system in Punjab sector

In a major boost to the country’s air defence capabilities, the Indian Air Force (IAF) is deploying the first squadron of the S-400 air defence missile system in the Punjab sector. “The first squadron is being deployed in the Punjab sector. India successfully test-fired next generation Agni-P ballistic missile

On December 18, 2021, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully test-fired the new generation nuclear-capable ballistic missile ‘Agni Prime’ from APJ Abdul Kalam island off the coast of Odisha in Balasore. 59,190 armed forces personnel granted Disability Pension since 2016 : Defence Ministry

The government on Friday said it has granted disability pension to 59,190 armed forces personnel since 2016. Armed forces personnel “invalidated” out of service on account of bodily disability sustained during service are eligible for disability pension. According to details provided by Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt in Lok Sabha, 6,851 personnel were granted disability pension in 2016, while the number went up to 10,554 in 2017 and 12,321 in 2018. Bhatt was responding to a question on the issue.A total of 12,971 personnel were extended the pension in 2019, 12,149 in 2020 and 4,344 in the current year.
