The Indian Navy has inducted two more Poseidon 8I maritime reconnaissance and anti-submarine warfare aircraft, in a boost to its surveillance capabilities in the Indian Ocean in the face of China’s increasing forays into the region. Intruder killed in firing by BSF troops in Samba order area
An intruder was shot dead on Monday when BSF troops resorted to firing following the detection of suspicious movement along the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district, a senior officer of the force said. The alert troops of the Border Security Force (BSF) detected the suspected Pakistani intruder’s movement along the IB in Ramgarh in the early hours and opened fire after challenging him, officials said. The India-Bangladesh border in Tripura will be completely fenced by next year to ensure fool-proof security, a top BSF official said on Saturday. Border Security Force Inspector General (Tripura Frontier), Sushanta Kumar Nath, said that 80-85 per cent of the 856-km-long India-Bangladesh international border in the northeastern state has already been fenced. “Substantial fencing work has been done in the Tripura’s eastern sector last year, and work on a 31-km porous stretch has been taken up on a priority basis.
