The Indian army chief visited Nepal last month. During this time he met the then Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. During the meeting, Prime Minister Oli emphasized the good relations between India and Nepal. Oli had said that any issues on which we have differences should be dealt with through negotiations. General Narwane also visited the headquarters of the Nepali army.
A political crisis occurred in Nepal on Sunday. In Nepal, President Vidya Devi Bhandari announced the midterm election dates on the recommendations of Prime Minister Oli, dissolving the Parliament. Later the Prachanda-led faction of the ruling party chose Prachanda as the new leader of the parliamentary party, replacing Prime Minister Oli. Earlier, in a meeting of the Central Committee of the Prachanda-led faction, Oli was also removed from the post of the party’s president.
