The Agniveer Army Recruitment 2026 is the Government of India’s plan to take young, energetic and capable young people into the Indian Army and train them to become disciplined, physically fit leaders with pride in their country through four(4) years of temporary service. 

The Agnipath Scheme provides all 4 elements of military service: discipline, physical fitness, leadership, and pride.

Nationality

To be eligible for this program as a candidate, you have to have either Indian citizenship or be a citizen of Nepal; if you don’t meet these criteria, we cannot accept your application. Domicile certificates (with photographs) issued by Tehsildars or District Magistrates must also be valid before submitting a complete application.

Agniveer Selection Process

The Agniveer selection process is multi-stage and tests you physically, academically, and medically. Here is what every aspirant must prepare for:

1. Written Exam

 Will assess your familiarity with General Knowledge, Mathematics, logical reasoning, and other subjects particular to your category (General Duty, Technical, Clerical, etc.). Having a solid performance in the written exam is critical to securing a chance of being selected for the next step of the Agniveer process.

2. Physical Fitness Test

Participants will undergo a series of fitness tests at the recruiting centre where they initially registered to participate in Agniveers. Male participants will run 1.6 kilometres and complete multiple pull-ups; female participants will run 1.6 kilometres and perform vertical leg jumps and horizontal leg jumps.

3. Measurement Assessments

Measuring height/weight/chest for each region before testing is important, and representatives from the Indian Army will determine whether your measurements meet the standards in place on that particular day.

4. Medical Examination

Eye exams, hearing tests, and general health will be assessed in accordance with Indian Army Medical Rules. Issues that can lead to disqualification include lack of vision or flat feet.

The basic salary for the Indian Army on Agniveer is about 21,000 rupees per month in the first year and will increase to approximately 28,000 rupees per month by the 4th year. The total compensation paid to Agniveers is 30% deducted every month to the Seva Nidhi corpus (the total amount of money that Agniveers will receive after completing 4 years of service).

Once an Agniveer completes his/her four years of service, he/she will receive an amount of about 11.71 lakh rupees (tax exempt), which is a total payout (in Seva Nidhi) for completion of duty. In addition, based on their performance and merit, up to approximately 25% of Agniveers will be allowed to join the Indian Army full-time. The remaining Agniveers will receive their payout and possibly will also be given a priority in government and PSU recruiting activities.
