Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman is recommended by IAF for Vir Chakra for shooting down
F-16.
Abhnandan Vatrthaman has been recommended FOR THE Vir Chkra the 3 rd highest gallantry award in
the military during the times of war after the Param Vir Chakra and the Mahavir Chakra .

Wing commander Abhinandan has the unique distinction of being the only pilot in the world to have
shot down an F-16 combat aircraft on Feb, 27 this year during aerial conflict with Pakistan.
Abhinandan’s act of bravery has got him back to his motherland and he has got this courage to fight
back against all the odds and came out as a winner from Pakistan.

He has shown his bravery and confidence of ‘ Never go die spirit’ and a true motivator for everyone
who aims to join Airforce, and also his teammates, that how in the times of major difficulty one
must ‘never give up’
he has put up all the major qualities of an officer, a person must bestow to fight against any odd ,
any enemy and any situation.
