Hydrography Implementation Agreement signed between Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and his Vietnamese counterpart

On November 27, 2020, India’s Defense Minister Rajnath Singh attended a bilateral virtual meeting with his Vietnamese counterpart, General Ngo Juan Lich, to discuss important ways of broad strategic friendship and partnership between the two countries.

Giving information about this meeting on Twitter, the Defense Minister said that, there has been a huge expansion in defense cooperation between India and Vietnam. He also shared information in his tweet during this virtual bilateral meeting with his Vietnamese counterpart about fruitful conversations on various issues.

During this bilateral virtual meeting, the Hydrographic Implementation Agreement was also signed in the presence of the Defense Minister of India and Vietnam.

The news was shared by the Defense Minister’s office on Twitter, while it was also mentioned that the cooperation between the two nations has expanded considerably over the years.

Even though the economic and cultural relations between India and Vietnam started from the second century, but from the year 1992, these two countries established macroeconomic relations, which include agriculture, oil exploration and manufacturing.

Relations between India and Vietnam, especially defense relations, have benefited greatly from India’s ‘Look East Policy’ (Look East Policy).

Increased bilateral military cooperation between India and Vietnam includes intelligence sharing, sale of military equipment, counter-insurgency training and joint naval exercises as well as training in jungle warfare. The Indian Army has regularly deployed its warships for goodwill visits to the Vietnamese seas.
