15 Military Chopper Accidents Since March 2017
Military Chopper Accidents : Thirty-one people were killed in accidents involving 15 military helicopters since March 2017 that included the December 8 crash of the Mi-17V5 near Coonoor, according to details provided by the government in Lok Sabha on Friday. The 15 choppers that met with accidents included four Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH), four Cheetah, two ALH (weapon system integrated) versions, three Mi-17V5, an Mi-17 and a Chetak. 59,190 armed forces personnel granted Disability Pension since 2016 : Defence Ministry
The government on Friday said it has granted disability pension to 59,190 armed forces personnel since 2016. Armed forces personnel “invalidated” out of service on account of bodily disability sustained during service are eligible for disability pension. According to details provided by Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt in Lok Sabha, 6,851 personnel were granted disability pension in 2016, while the number went up to 10,554 in 2017 and 12,321 in 2018. Bhatt was responding to a question on the issue.A total of 12,971 personnel were extended the pension in 2019, 12,149 in 2020 and 4,344 in the current year.
