International Youth Day 2021

International Youth Day 2021 is celebrated every year on 12 August. Its aim is to bring out their perspectives on social, economic and political issues to the youth of the world and make them equal partners in them.

The purpose of this World Youth Day is to connect the youth in the progress of the country and society and to provide them a chance to show their talent. On this occasion, youths are involved in organizing various programs around the world.

The purpose of celebrating International Youth Day is to honor youth who are social, political and inventive participating in youth.

Each year the United Nations sets a theme for International Youth Day that is relevant to all global communities and citizens. This years (2021) theme is "Transforming Food Systems: Youth Innovation for Human and Planetary Health". According to the United Nations, this years theme highlights the critical need for inclusive support mechanisms that ensure that youth can collectively and securely protect the planet while integrating biodiversity into the transformation of food systems. How is International Youth Day celebrated?

Every year on this day the United Nations selects a theme. Around this theme, many programs are organized for the youth and by the youth all over the world. Generally, parades, music concerts, exhibitions are organized in these programs.

  

History of International Youth Day

On 17 December 1999, the United Nations General Assembly decided that 12 August would be observed as International Youth Day every year. This decision was taken after the suggestion given in the year 1998 by the World Conference of Ministers Responsible for Youth.

 

International Youth Day organized for the first time

International Youth Day was organized for the first time in the year 2000. Earlier, the United Nations had declared 1985 as the International Year of Youth. The basic objective of celebrating International Youth Day is to honor youth who participate socially, politically and inventively.
