NDA is a national level entrance exam conducted every year. Through this entrance examination, qualified candidates are selected for training of Indian Navy, Indian Military and Air Force.The NDA exam is conducted by the UPSC (Union Public Services) every year.


The test has three phases to qualify i.e written exam, SSB interview and Medical Examination. After qualifying this entrance exam, the candidates have to qualify SSB Interview as well.


NDA represents National Defence Academy arranged in Khadakwasla, Pune (Maharashtra) The candidates who qualify NDA exam will go through 4 Year Course and prepare to turn into an Officer in these wings.

  • NDA - 370 (208 for Army, 42 for Navy & 120 for Air Force)
  • Naval Academy : 30
  • Girls Seats - 19 Seats are available NDA For Girls (10 army seats, 3 Navy Seats, 6 Air Force Seats ).
  • Note :Vacancies are provisional and may be changed depending on the Availability of training capacity of National Defence Academy.

NDA cut off is the minimum qualifying marks at the written stage and marks secured by the last candidate in the merit order at the final stage of the exam.

There is no minimum percentage requirement for NDA Exam. To give NDA examination you can have minimum 33 % percentage in class 12th that means a student with any percentage criteria can give the NDA examination.

After clearing NDA Exam the cadets go for 3-year training - For Army/Navy/Air Force -3 Years at National Defence Academy 1 Year at IMA/AFA/NA For Naval Academy- 4 Years B.Tech Course at Naval Academy

Yes, If you are eligible by age limit and educational qualification then you can apply for 2 NDA papers.

A person having foreign citizenship cannot apply for NDA but If He/She has Indian passport and documents supporting his/her claim of Indian citizenship then they can apply for NDA.

NDA Exam is difficult but it depends upon the preparation according to which the difficulty level varies from easy to very tough.

For Army Wing, a student with any stream and percentage can apply for NDA- Army Wing. However, For Air Force, Navy & Naval Academy:—12th passed or appearing with Physics and Mathematics with any percentage can apply.

No, there is no reservation in NDA examination.
