Retirement age of Indian Army officers may increase from next year<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\nIt is noteworthy that earlier, officers used to retire and serve till the age of 58 under the re-employment scheme. But after the age extension scheme is implemented, the defense forces will discontinue the re-employment scheme even for the officers who retire from regular service and get the salary of a lower rank officer again for a few years.<\/p>\n

The Department of Military Affairs (DMA) under Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat has proposed to increase the retirement age in the Indian Army. According to this plan of the DMA, the retirement age of military officers can be increased from one to three years from April next year. Sources in the government told the news agency ANI, ‘There has been a very positive response to the proposal for age extension as it will give all officers one to three years’ additional service as compared to other civilians and they can serve for 60 years.
