Out of 15 nations, India is the one that celebrates Martyr’s Day every year. mainly on 2 dates in India , Martyr’s Day or Shaheed Diwas is observed. On this day we pay homage to those brave freedom fighters or to our heroes who have sacrificed their lives for their Motherland and their countrymen.<\/p>\n

MARTYR\u2019S DAYS IN INDIA<\/strong><\/p>\n

January 30th<\/sup><\/strong> is also called as the Martyr\u2019s day as on 30 January Shaheed Diwas is celebrated in the memory of Mahatma Gandhi<\/em> because on 30 January 1948 Mahatma Gandhi, the father of Nation was assassinated at Gandhi Smriti in the Birla House.<\/p>\n

On 23rd<\/sup> March<\/strong> also Martyr’s Day is celebrated to pay tribute to three extraordinary revolutionaries of India who were hanged to death by the British namely Bhagat Singh<\/strong>, Shivaram Rajguru <\/strong>and Sukhdev Thapar<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

IMPORTANCE OF 23RD<\/sup> MARCH IN INDIAN HISTORY?<\/strong><\/p>\n

23rd March is celebrated as Martyr’s Day to remember the sacrifice of three extraordinary freedom fighters of India. On 23rd<\/sup>  March<\/strong> three heroes of our Nation were hanged to death namely Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar <\/strong>by the British. No doubt, they also sacrificed their lives for the welfare of our nation whether they have chosen a different path from Mahatma Gandhi.<\/p>\n

They are the source of inspiration for the youth of India. At such a young age, they came forward and for the independence they fought with bravery. So, to pay homage to these three revolutionaries Martyr’s Day is also celebrated on 23rd March.<\/p>\n

ABOUT BHAGAT SINGH AND HIS COMPANIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bhagat Singh<\/strong> was born on 28 September, 1907<\/strong> in the Lyallpur, Punjab. Bhagat Singh together with his companions Rajguru, Sukhdev, Azad, and Gopal fought for the assassination of Lala Lajpat Rai.<\/p>\n

Bhagat Sing became an inspiration for youngsters due to his daring adventures. He with his companions on 8th April, 1929 <\/strong>threw bombs over the Central Legislative Assembly by reading the slogan “Inquillab Zindabad”.<\/em> Bhagat Singh coined this powerful slogan \u2018Inquilab Zindabad\u2019<\/em> which became the slogan of India\u2019s armed struggle. And for this, a murder case was charged against them.<\/p>\n

Bhagat Singh said  \u2018They may kill me, but not my ideas. They can crush my body, but will not be able to crush my spirit\u2019.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

On 23rd March, 1931 <\/strong>in the Lahore Jail they were hanged. It is said that Bhagat Singh was smiling when he was hanged. In fact, this was done with a fearlessness to “lowered British imperialism”. It is said that no magistrate was ready to monitor Bhagat Singh’s execution. After the deadline of the original death warrant expired, an honorary judge signed the execution order and inspected it. Their body was cremated at the banks of the Sutlej River. A big Shaheedi Mela or Martyrdom Fair is held in the birthplace, at the National Martyr’s Memorial in the Hussainwala or Indo-Pak border.<\/p>\n

We are proud of our such heroes of Ours who didn\u2019t even cared about their lives and has motivated so many to get the freedom that we deserve. As an Indian we can never forget what we got got just because such brave persons has sacrificed so much for us.<\/p>\n
