The fourth recipient of PVC was born on \u00a021st Nov 1916 in Khajuri village of Shahjahanpur district in Uttar Pradesh followed by 7 siblings(6 boys 1 sister) \u00a0Since he belonged to a very poor farmer family he had to support his family for this he worked in the field or at home. He studied till 4 class due to financial situations. He was a wrestling champion in his village.<\/p>\n

Naik Jadunath Singh enrolled to Rajput Regiment on 21 Nov 1916. After training he was commissioned to 1 Rajput Regiment and attached to World war II. After 6 years of service he was promoted to the rank of lance Naik. Later his unit was deployed to J&K .<\/p>\n

BATTLE OF TAINDHAR: 06 FEB 1948<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Till the Maharaja Hari Singh of Kashmir formally decided to merge with India ,Pakistan \u00a0had already attacked on many fronts in Naushera sector. Taindhar front was very important for the enemy as to controlled over Srinagar airfield. On 01 Feb 1948 Pakistani soldiers suffered heavy casualties by Indian Army.<\/p>\n

BEGINNING OF LANCE NAIK ROLE<\/h5>\n

The Pakistan again began the attack on the stake of Taindhar ridge. The whole surrounding was under gunfire and mortar fire. In the darkness enemy found the way to Indian pickets. \u00a0When Pakistan enemy were near to the picket 2 which was commanded by Naik Jadunath Singh. He displayed his valour by and managed to\u00a0 confused the enemy . Although he had small force he showed great leadership in this attack his 4 men were injured. Despite being outnumbered and injured, his forces continued guarding their post. \u00a0When his Bren- gunner injured he took the gun and attacked them and got victory for the second time but\u00a0 had lost all the men of his post.<\/p>\n

The enemy launched a third attack to capture the post. Naik Jadunath Singh charged the enemy with his sten gun, despite being alone and wounded. The enemy, surprised by this daredevilry fled in disorder. During this exchange, two enemy bullets pierced his head and chest and Naik Jadunath Singh was martyred.<\/p>\n

He was\u00a0 honoured with the nation\u2019s highest gallantry award, \u201cParam Vir Chakra\u201d for his outstanding bravery, unyielding fighting spirit and self-sacrifice for the nation.<\/p>\n

LEGACY<\/strong><\/h5>\n

The Uttar Pradesh government honored this PVC winner by naming a sports stadium in his hometown Shahjahanpur as \u201cJadunath Singh Sports Stadium<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n

Shipping Corporation of India named an oil tanker as \u201cParam Vir Chakra Jadunath Singh\u201d in order to pay tribute to this brave-heart.<\/p>\n

His contribution to the nation will never be forgotten. Jai hind<\/p>\n
