2 March 2020, was the historic day for half the country\u2019s population. The Supreme Court , while hearing a petition for giving permanent commission to women officers in the army directed that women are qualified in all respects for the command post. They should be given permanent commission in the army. Apart from this, the court said during the hearing that a permanent commission should be made for women within three months.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

            <\/span>\u201cNeed to change in attitude towards women\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The court told the Center that it should have been implemented after the 2010 Delhi High Court order. The coutt said that denying women the opportunity by giving social and mental reasons is not anly discriminatory , but also unacceptable. The court has asked the Center to change its outlook and mindset. After the Court\u2019s decision, the way for women to be deployed to all the places except the war zone has been cleared.<\/span><\/p>\n

Women get Permanent Commission within three months<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

The Supreme Court ordered the Central Government that all women officers who elect a permanent commission in the army be given a permanent commission within three months. In this order, the Court said that women officers would also be eligible for appointment to the command post in the army.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the Court\u2019s decision, Lt. Col Seema Singh said \u201cThis is a progressive and historic decision\u201d. Women should be given equal rights.<\/span><\/p>\n
