Born on 10 May 1980, in Ahir village of \u00a0Bulandshehr. He belongs to the militant family as his father, Karan Singh was the part of Kumayu regiment and also took part in 1965 and 1971 war. Grenadier Yogender Singh Yadav was part of the leading team of a Ghatak Platoon tasked to capture Tiger Hill on the night of 3\/4 July 1999. The approach to the top was steep, snowbound and rocky. Grenadier Yogender Singh Yadav, unmindful of the danger involved, volunteered to lead and fix the rope for his team to climb up. On seeing the team, the enemy opened intense automatic, grenade, rocket and artillery fire killing the Commander and two of his colleagues and the platoon was stalled. Realising the gravity of the situation, Grenadier Yogender Singh Yadav crawled up to the enemy position to silence it and in the process sustained multiple bullet injuries. Unmindful of his injuries and in the hail of enemy bullets, Grenadier Yogender Singh Yadav continued climbing towards the enemy positions, lobbed grenades, continued firing from his weapons and killed four enemy soldiers in close combat and silenced the automatic fire. Despite multiple bullet injuries, he refused to be evacuated and continued the charge. Inspired by his gallant act, the platoon charged on the other positions with renewed punch and captured Tiger Hill Top.<\/em><\/p>\n Grenadier Yogender Singh Yadav displayed the most conspicuous courage, indomitable gallantry, grit and determination under extreme adverse circumstances.<\/em><\/p>\n He reported\u00a0 Jammu on 20 May 1999. His first assessment after reporting is to recapture Tololing Hills. He indulged in the war for 22 days with Grenadiers Battalion. After reaching the Dras sector he took part in the war . Indian Army got casualties of\u00a0 2 officers, 2 JCO and 22 soldiers.\u00a0 \u00a0They captured and hosted flag to Tololing top on 12 June he and his 7 soldiers have next challenge of capturing Tiger Hills.<\/p>\n He was entrusted with the task of capturing most important the three bunkers of the enemy at \u00a0Tiger Hill. To achieve his goal he planned to climb the 18000 feet Tiger hill from where an enemy could not even think. This was not an easy task. In spite of knowing the difficulty of steep climbing about 100 feet, he and Indian soldiers had to move. He took the front. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0He has to set up an order of a rope for soldiers. On reaching the first bunker the Pakistan army started firing on them. In those firing heavy casualties and\u00a0 3 bullets hit him. even though he destroyed the first bunker.<\/p>\n After that he moved forward to the second bunker from were 4 Pakistani were firing on Indian soldiers he jumped into the second bunker and killed all four Pakistani alone till then his troops reached to him.<\/p>\n His colleagues found that his hand was fractured badly and around 15 bullets pierced in his body. Despite of badly injured he defied his colleagues to destroy the third bunker.
