<\/a><\/p>\nHere, in this blog we are sharing the Guidelines for Physical Standards needed in an NDA aspirant to finally qualify the NDA examination.<\/p>\n

- The first and foremost important thing is that the candidates must be physically and mentally fit according to the prescribed physical standards.<\/li>\n
- A lot of candidates qualified the SSB are rejected subsequently on medical grounds. Hence it is advised to the candidates to get themselves medically examined before submitting their NDA \u00a0exam applications \u00a0to avoid disappointment at the final stage.<\/li>\n
- Candidates are also advised to rectify minor defects \/ ailments in order to speed up finalization of medical examination conducted at the Military Hospital after being recommended at the SSB.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Few of such commonly found defects \/ ailments are listed below :<\/strong><\/p>\n
- \n
- Ears wax<\/li>\n
- Deviated Nasal Septum<\/li>\n
- Hydrocele \/ Phimosis<\/li>\n
- Overweight \/ Underweight<\/li>\n
- Under sized Chest<\/li>\n
- Piles<\/li>\n
- Gynaecomastia<\/li>\n
- Tonsillitis<\/li>\n
- Varicocele<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
- \n
- Regarding Tattoos it is to be noted that\u00a0Permanent body tattoos are only permitted on inner face of forearm i.e. from inside of elbow to the wrist and on the reverse side of palm \/ back ( dorsal ) side of hand.<\/li>\n
- Permanent body tattoos on any other part of the body are not acceptable and candidates will be barred from further selection. Tribes with tattoo marks on the face or body as per their existing custom and traditions will be permitted on a case to case basis.<\/li>\n
- Civilian candidates appearing for all types of UPSC exams of the Armed Forces will be entitled to out-patients treatment from service sources at public expense for injuries sustained or diseases contracted during the course of their NDA examination by the Selection Board. They will also be entitled to in-patient treatment at public expense in the Officers ward of a hospital provided –<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

- The injury is sustained during the NDA tests
\n2. The disease is contracted during the course of the National Defence Academy examination by selection board and there is no suitable accommodation in local civil hospital or it is impracticable to remove the patient to the civil hospital
\n3. The medical board requires the candidate\u2019s NDA admission for observation.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n- \n
- A candidate recommended by the Services Selection Board (SSB) will then undergo a NDA medical examination conducted by the Board of Service Medical Officers.<\/li>\n
- Only those candidates will be admitted to the academy who are declared fit by the Medical Board.<\/li>\n
- The proceedings of the Medical Board are confidential and will not be shared to anyone. However, the candidates declared unfit will be intimated by the President of the Medical Board and the procedure for request for an Appeal Medical Board will also be intimated to the candidate.<\/li>\n
- Candidates declared unfit during Appeal Medical Board will be intimated about the provision of Review Medical Board.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
- \n
- The candidate must be in good physical and mental health and free from any disease \/ disability which is likely to interfere with the efficient performance of Military duties.<\/li>\n
- There should be no evidence of weak constitution, bodily defects or under weight. The candidate should not be overweight or obese.<\/li>\n
- The minimum acceptable height is 157.5 cms<\/strong>. ( 162.5 cms for Air Force ) For Gorkhas and individuals belonging to hills of North Eastern regions of India, Garhwal and Kumaon, the minimum acceptable heights will be 5 cms. In case of candidates from Lakshadweep the minimum acceptable height can be reduced by 2 cms.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
It is to be noted that Height relaxable up to 2.5 cm ( 5 cm for Navy ) may be allowed where the Medical Board certifies that the candidate is likely to grow and come up to the required standard on completion of his National Defence Academy training.<\/em><\/p>\n

- To meet special requirement as a pilot in the Air Force the acceptable measurements of leg length, thigh length and sitting height will be as under :<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

- Chest should be well developed. Fully expanded chest should not be less than 81 cms. The minimum range of expansion after full inspiration should be 5 cms.. X-Ray of the chest is compulsory and will be taken to rule out any disease of the chest.<\/li>\n
- There should be no mal-development or impairment of function of the bones or joint.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
