Our Nation is full of heroic tales of various soldiers known to be war heroes.   Trishul Defence Academy always honours to the soldiers who bravely bear his country’s cause. They are the actual heroes having a brave heart and protect us throughout the day and night.  They are the true inspiration to our youngster. In the lieu of connecting youth to war heroes closely we are giving an opportunity to them to learn about the War Heroes.<\/p>\n

MAJOR RAMA RAGHOBA RANE PVC<\/strong><\/h4>\n

He was the third recipient to get Highest gallantry award Param Vir Chakra for his braved machine-gun fire, cleared mines and roadblocks as he laid a path for tanks also drove to a roadblock in a tank, crouched under it, and cleared the mines.<\/p>\n

He was born on  26 June 1918 at Chendia village, in Karwar  Karnataka in Kshatriya  Maratha community.<\/p>\n

His father R. P Rane was a  police constable. Due to his father’s transferable job he used to study in a different district.<\/p>\n

He joined the Army during the World War II at the age of 22 yrs and was commissioned into Bombay Sappers in July 1940.  And also took part in the Burma war during World War II and played an important role in Indo Pak War 1947-48.  He got married to Leela on 03 Feb 1955 and the couple had three sons and a daughter. He retired on 25 June 1968 after serving for 21 years in the Army on 11 July 1994 owing to natural causes.<\/p>\n

BATTLE OF RAJOURI<\/strong><\/h4>\n

      \n
    • During 1948, Maj Rane, (then 2nd  Lt) was serving with 37 Field Company of Bombay Sappers and was deployed in J & K. The Indo-Pak war which began in October 1947 had entered its seventh month by April 1948.<\/li>\n
    • During the war, Pak captured the Rajouri at that time Lt. Rane a was assigned to clear the miles and roadblocks on the 26 miles Naushera road.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          \n
        • It was the 8th of April when troops are undergoing their task and came under enemy mortar fire.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
            \n
          • \n
              \n
            • In this fire 2 were killed and 5 others were injured including Lt. Rane.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                \n

                  \n
                • He used tanks to cover them. 2nd Lieutenant Rane worked during the night to prepare a safe lane for the tanks.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                    \n
                  • \n
                      \n
                    • He continuously worked for the twelve hours and remove all roadblocks. On the total, he worked for 2200 hours.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                        \n
                      • \n
                          \n
                        • And also continued to clear mines even though the enemy artillery and mortar fire were fired.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                              \n
                            • The enemy pickets, perched on the adjoining hills, were guarding all approaches to this roadblock. 2nd Lieutenant Rane drove to the roadblock in a tank and crouching under it, blasted the block with mines. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                                \n
                              • He thus opened the road before the end of the night. On April 11th, they worked for 17 hours to open the road to Chingas and beyond<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                                LEGACY<\/h4>\n
                                  \n
                                • The naval warship museum in Karwar has a statue erected in his honour.<\/li>\n
                                • The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd (SCI) named fifteen of its Crude Oil Tankers in honour of the Param Vir Chakra recipients. They had a crude oil tanker named MT \u201cLt. Ram Raghoba Rane, PVC\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                                  2nd Lt. Rane made a substantial contribution in facilitating the Indian advance on Rajouri. It cost the enemy about 500 dead and many more wounded. It also helped in saving many innocent lives in Chingas and Rajauri.<\/span><\/p>\n
