Later it is licence-produced in\u00a0India\u00a0by\u00a0Hindustan Aeronautics\u00a0and given the name BAHADUR.\u00a0It is a ground strike aircraft which has an impeccable track record during his journey in Indian Air Force. This swing wing fighter bomber was one of the main strike aircraft of the IAF.<\/h5>\n<h5>On Friday, 27<sup>th<\/sup> December 2019 , Indian Airforce has finally decommissioned from its sole remaining squadron \u00a0where MiG-27 is based in Rajasthan&#8217;s Jodhpur at a de-induction ceremony. Its other variants i.e. the MiG-23 BN and MiG-23 MF have already retired from Indian Air Force. It took it last flight from Jodhpur airbase of Indian Air Force.<\/h5>\n<h5>Indian Air Force\u2019s number 29 Squadron is the only unit that operates the MiG 27 Upgrades. The Squadron was raised on 10 March 1958 at Air Force Station Halwara with the Ouragan (Toofani) aircraft.<\/h5>\n<h4><strong><u>ITS CONTRIBUTIONS<\/u><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>&#8220;MiG 27 Aircrafts have made major contribution to the nation, both during peace and war. This fleet has earned its glory in the historic <strong>Kargil conflict<\/strong> and had played a major role in the war when it delivered rockets &amp; bombs with accuracy on enemy positions.<\/p>\n<p>Its active participation was also seen in <strong>Op-Parakram<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The upgraded MiG 27, because of its survivability, has also participated in numerous <strong>national and international exercises<\/strong> of Indian Armed Forces.<\/p>\n<h4><strong><u>REASONS FOR DECOMMISSIONING MiG FLEET<\/u><\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>The operational life of the aircraft has ended and recently many technical glitches were reported across the country<\/li>\n<li>On March 31, a MiG-27 fighter jet crashed in a village in Sirohi in Rajasthan when it was on a routine mission from Jodhpur.<\/li>\n<li>On September 4, another MiG-27 crashed near Jodhpur during a routine mission but both pilot and co-pilot had a miraculous escape.<\/li>\n<li>Ground Attack role and the gun on this aircraft became obsolete with increase in technology.<\/li>\n<li>Lack of spare parts. The main manufacturing country USSR no longer exists.<\/li>\n<li>Russia and Ukraine no longer use them or manufacture spare parts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Now, Sukhoi Aircrafts has taken the place of this fleet.
