Lets read about them and remember them in Our Prayers.<\/p>\n<p>In the year 1999 when Pakistani intruders infiltrated in the country by the help of the Pakistani Army, they captured the Indian bunkers. The motive of Pakistani intruders is to stop Indian forces in Kargil and Ladakh.\u00a0 Various army troops were sent to dive intruders. 1\/11 Gorkha regiment is also sent for the same cause.<\/p>\n<p>Lieutenant Manoj Pandey and his company also proceed for the Kargil. Being in the field area he was promoted to the rank of Captain.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Info bit of Captain Manoj Pandey<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Captain Manoj Pandey born in the house of Shri Gopi Chand and Smt. Mohini Pandey who lives in Rudra village in Kamlapur tehsil of Sitapur district in Uttar Pradesh.<\/li>\n<li>He was the eldest child in his family.<\/li>\n<li>And completed his education from UP Sainik School, Lucknow and Rani Laxmi Bai Memorial Senior Secondary School.<\/li>\n<li>He was very\u00a0 interested in sports , bodybuilding .<\/li>\n<li>In his selection during SSB interview\u00a0 interviewer had asked him, \u201cWhy do you want to join the Army?\u201d He had immediately replied, \u201cI want to win the Param Vir Chakra.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>Kargil War, 1999<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>In May 1999, the Pakistani intruders already captured across LOC in the sectors of Mushkoh, Drass, Kaksar, and Batalik sectors.\u00a0 Due to distance, at many points, no artillery and no air power would help to detect and fought with the enemy forces, due to invisibility range.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore The Indian forces have to send\u00a0 soldiers for direct assaults.<\/p>\n<p>From\u00a0 such missions one mission is also assigned to 1\/11 GR\u00a0 to took over Khalubar.\u00a0 This task is assigned to the troops\u00a0 whose commanding\u00a0 is\u00a0 done by Captain Manoj Pandey. He also took part\u00a0 as a team in capturing Jaubar post .<\/p>\n<p>When Captain Manoj was moving ahead to the feet of 19700 on the way to Khalubar the enemy\u00a0 force began to fire from both side of hillock. Captain Manoj first of all took his soldiers to save and advantagenous place , then he planned\u00a0 further movement . He sent one troops to right and from other side i.e. left he himself proceed with the soldiers.<\/p>\n<p>Captain Manoj charged to the enemy by saying following\u00a0 words\u00a0 and clear two enemy bunkers<\/p>\n<p>.\u201cJai Mahakali, Aayo Gorkhali\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While clearing the third bunker a bullets shots him on body .\u00a0 Inspite of being badly injured he proceeded and destroyed the fourth bunker where he himself targets on his head.\u00a0 He was 24 years at the time of his death.<\/p>\n<p>The troops under him get control over six bunkers and killed many enemy soldiers. He is a devotee man who after almost injured from all\u00a0 over his body still proceeded to destroy enemy.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Legacy\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>UP Sainik School names his\u00a0 assembly after Manoj pandey.<\/li>\n<li>As\u00a0 Captain Manoj\u00a0 at his school time is interested in sports\u00a0 so\u00a0 UP Sainik school\u00a0 conducts a football tounament every year on the name of Cpt. Manoj<\/li>\n<li>Army welfare housing Organization also desined the veteran apartment after his name as\u00a0 &#8221; Manoj Vihar&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>The National Defence Academy names their science block as &#8220;Manoj Pandey block&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>The roundabout in Gomti nagar at Lucknow\u00a0 is named after him\u00a0 as\u00a0 Manoj Pandey Chowk.<\/li>\n<li>The Army quarter in Pune is also name after him as\u00a0 &#8220;Captain Manoj\u00a0 Pandey Enclave&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>In Drass,\u00a0 a museum is also named after him.<\/li>\n<li>In the memories of\u00a0 him Rani laxmi bai memorial senior secondary school also constructed an auditorium in his name which was inaugurated by his parents.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>Awards<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Captain Manoj Pandey for his extreme bravery and courage got the India&#8217;s highest gallantry award Param Vir Chakra posthumously. He fulfills his words of getting Param vir Chakra .<\/p>\n<p>Students and Fellow Readers it is so easy to write about them or hear about them but this act of sacrificing one&#8217;s own life for others needs courage which only a few men have.
