Psychological test is one of the toughest test of Services Selection Board. Tough probably because the candidates are unable perform in these tests. In the procedure of psychological test TAT,What is the importance of writing the story on blank slide Is there any connection between the 11 stories of 11 slides and the last 12th<\/sup>\u00a0one. Let us understand the importance of Blank Slide in TAT?<\/p>\n

Actually, the TAT is the Test of imagination, which emerges from your unconscious mind. Hence, the TAT is the test of your imaginations emerging from your mind. The weightage of TAT in psychological test is 70%. And rest 10% each for WAT, SRT and SDT. If someone has lost his 70% then the rest WAT, SRT and SDT are of no use.<\/p>\n

An Introduction to TAT Test<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n

The TAT is not a newly formed test rather since 1935 when it was first developed by Henry A. Murray and Christiana D. Morgan, initially having 20 slides. In SSB\u2019s the candidates have to write the stories on each slide actually when the test was started it was nothing to do with writing. Neither in WAT nor in TAT. It was started with your verbal responses. Once a slide was shown to you then you had to narrate the story which was recorded by a recorder. Which was judged by your flow of speech, frame of story, structure of sentence, identification of hero of the story, facial gesture, body language, etc. In SSB, TAT is not so simple. Initially among 20 slides there were 2 blank slides, which was called as 18+2.<\/p>\n

Purpose of Blank Slide in TAT<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Now let us discuss the purpose of blank slide, to reveal the imaginable production of a candidate, in the background of the stimulus or the imaginal production in respect to the familiarity to the test is judged on the back ground of slides, the stimulus. When the stimulus or slides were shown to the candidates, then the three independent variables were judged on pressure of the characteristics of the stimulus. The three independent variables are<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Imaginal production of the candidate- how is he is imagining.<\/li>\n
  2. Familiarity with the test- who much he is familiar with the test, which means the structure, frame, identifying hero, etc.<\/li>\n
  3. Presses employed during the imaginal production- why these Presses are formed.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The Presses are of two kinds in the humans. One is alpha press and beta press. The alpha press is expecting what is given by the environment. The beta press is to interpretation of alpha press (which is given by the environment).<\/p>\n

    The behaviour of the human is because of the beta press. When we are giving responses, they can be categorized in two, 11 where pictures are shown, a stimulus is shown where there is a character or a situation is there in the given slide. And the last blank slide where there is no character or situation is shown. Whenever a picture is shown to you that are called function of structural stimulus. Whereas in blank slide it is not of function of structural stimulus.<\/p>\n

    The things which must keep in mind while attempting TAT,<\/p>\n

    1st<\/sup>\u00a0Never create any negative situation. Inserting problems intentionally.<\/p>\n

    2nd<\/sup>\u00a0Do not repeat any above mentioned 11 stories.<\/p>\n

    3rd<\/sup>\u00a0Never write any story relating to selections.<\/p>\n

    At last, the last story must not be incomplete.<\/p>\n
