INS Vikramaditya Aircraft Carrier<\/h2>\n

India now has two operational aircraft carriers to strengthen maritime security, the other being INS Vikramaditya<\/strong>, with the commissioning of INS Vikrant.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Having the commissioning of the first indigenously designed and built aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, India joined a narrow group of nations with the domestic capacity to produce such massive ships.<\/p>\n

The word triumphant, Vikrant, is big, massive, and broad, according to the prime minister.<\/p>\n

In addition to being outstanding, Vikrant is also unique. Vikrant is more than simply a warship; it is a symbol of Indian ability and competence. Additionally, he discussed several characteristics of the aircraft carrier, referring to it as a “floating airport, a floating metropolis,” and said that the electricity generated in it may<\/p>\n

While INS Vikramaditya<\/strong> is a modified Kiev-class aircraft carrier that India acquired from Russia in 2013 and was christened in honour of Vikramaditya, the mythical monarch, INS Vikrant is India’s first aircraft carrier that was planned and built domestically.<\/p>\n

The INS Vikrant is 62 metres broad and 262 metres long. When fully laden, it can move around 43,000 tonnes, reach a maximum planned speed of 28 knots, and travel 7,500 nautical miles. INS Vikramaditya, on the other hand, is 60 metres broad and has a total length of 284 metres. It can operate at distances of up to 7,000 nautical miles (13,000 km).<\/p>\n

INS Vikrant has around 2,200 compartments which can accommodate a crew of around 1,600. On the other hand, INS Vikramaditya has a total of 22 decks and carries around 1,600 personnel.<\/p>\n

The INS Vikrant will not have its own fleet of fighter jets on deck immediately and instead will rely on a few Russian-designed aircraft borrowed from INS Vikramaditya. For the first few years, MiG-29K jets will operate from the warship. INS Vikramaditya<\/strong> can carry over 30 aircraft, comprising an assortment of MiG 29K\/Sea Harrier, Kamov 31, Kamov 28, Sea King, ALH-Dhruv and Chetak helicopters.<\/p>\n
