My ancestors have firmly ensured that the Navy has a very solid basis and reached on\u00a0 new heights &#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He also thanks to his pre existing officer Sunil Lanba f0r his service to the\u00a0 nation<\/p>\n<p>Sunil Lanba also prays for his goodwill.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>As the the cheif his\u00a0 first priority is to accelerate long pending modernization of the Indian Navy, including the addirtion of warships, submarines and aircraft.<\/li>\n<li>The Navy currently has around 132 ships, 220 aircraft and 15 submarines.<\/li>\n<li>He is a graduate from Mumbai&#8217;s Defense Services Staff College of Wellington and College of Naval Warfare.<\/li>\n<li>He was ex-student of National Defense Academy in Khadakvasala, he has held various key positions in the Navy during his career in 39 years.<\/li>\n<li>Joined the Indian Navy in July 1980, he earned his wings as a helicopter pilot in 1981 and flew extensively on Chetak (Alouette) and Kamov helicopters.<\/li>\n<li>Admiral Karmbir Singh has taken over the charge of Indian Coast Guard Ship Chandabi, Missile Corvette INS Vijaydurg, as well as two guided missile destroyers, INS Rana and INS Delhi.<\/li>\n<li>To encourage Flag ranking, he was appointed as the cheif of staff of eastern Naval Command .<\/li>\n<li>As Vice Admiral , he was also the Director General of Project under the Navy&#8217;s infrastructure in Karwar.<\/li>\n<li>His other flag appointments includes Cheif of Staff and Flag officer Commanding Maharastra and Gujarat Naval Area.<\/li>\n<li>In the headquarters of Defence Ministry he served as Deputy Cheif of the Naval Staff.<\/li>\n<li>He is the first helicopter pilot to become the Cheif of Naval staff.<\/li>\n<li>The Navy cheif retires after three years or after attaining the age of 62 years whichever is earlier.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Vice Admiral Karambir Singh, Chief of Eastern Command, will take charge of the 24th Indian Navy&#8217;s Chief on May 31, 2019. 23rd Indian Navy Chief\u00a0 Sunil Lamba will retire on May 31, 2019.
