An internal study conducted by the College of Defense Management (CDM) has recommended the inclusion of ancient Indian texts such as Kautilya’s Arthashastra and the Bhagavad Gita in military training programmes. It has also been emphasized in the study that research can be done in this area and for this ‘Indian Culture Studies Forum’ can also be created.<\/p>\n

The College of Defense Management has a military training institute in Secunderabad. Here senior officers of the Army, Navy and Indian Air Force are trained and prepared for higher defense management.<\/p>\n

Trishul Defence Academy Team\u00a0 has learned that a project has been prepared by the Headquarters of the Integrated Defense Staff titled, The Virtues of Ancient Indian Culture and War Techniques and its Incorporation into Strategic Thinking and Training in Present Days.<\/p>\n

The objective of this project is to explore selected ancient Indian texts in the context of strategic thinking and leadership in the Indian Armed Forces. Along with this, it aims to establish a roadmap for adoption of best practices and ideas, which are relevant in the present times. A top defense source said, it can be in secret skills, military diplomacy and other areas.<\/p>\n

In March, at the Joint Commanders’ Conference in Kevadia, Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had talked about more indigenization in the purchase of military equipment. Two separate sessions on Indianisation of traditions and culture in the Armed Forces were held during the three-day conference. According to a report in The Print, these days emphasis is being laid on producing indigenous equipment and weapons in the defense sector.<\/p>\n
