India’s total installed renewable energy capacity has achieved the key target of 100 GW. The Ministry of Power has given this information.<\/p>\n

Union Minister for Energy and New and Renewable Energy R.K. Singh said in a tweet that, this is another historic day in the history of Indian power sector.<\/p>\n

The minister also said that, “Our installed renewable energy capacity (excluding large hydro projects) has crossed 1,00,000 MW.”<\/p>\n

He further said that, after achieving the target of 100 GW of installed renewable energy capacity, India has achieved a significant target towards achieving its target of 450 GW by 2030.<\/p>\n

India currently ranks fourth in the world in terms of installed renewable energy capacity. India ranks fifth in solar power and fourth in terms of installed wind power capacity.<\/p>\n

The Union Ministry of Power has stated that, while 100 GW have been installed, 50 GW is under installation and 27 GW is under tender.<\/p>\n

The ministry also said that, if India’s large hydropower potential is included, the installed renewable energy capacity will increase to 146 GW.<\/p>\n

India is set to build the largest solar power park of 4.75 gigawatts (Gw) in the Rann of Kutch in Khawara, Gujarat. This renewable energy park will be constructed by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, a subsidiary of National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC).<\/p>\n

NTPC is also developing India’s largest floating solar plant and this thermal power plant set up at Ramagundam in Peddapalli district of Telangana will have a power generation capacity of 100 MW.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
