For the first time, two women military officers have been selected for helicopter pilot training. According to the Army, 15 women officers had expressed their desire to join Army Aviation but only two officers were selected through a strict selection process including Pilot Aptitude Battery Test and Medical. After successful completion of training from Nashik Training School, she will be able to join flying duty from July 2022.
\nIn a historic move, the Indian Army has selected two women officers for training as combat helicopter pilots in its ‘Aviation’ unit. Army Chief General MM Naravane had approved the proposal to induct women as pilots six months ago.<\/p>\n
At present, women are given the responsibility of ‘Air Traffic Control’ and ‘Ground Duty’ in the ‘Aviation’ Department of the Army. Officials said the two selected women officers will be trained at the Combat Army Aviation Training School located in Nashik, Maharashtra.<\/p>\n
Officials said that 15 women officers had applied to join the aviation unit of the army but only two officers could clear the tough test. Both the women officers will be on duty till July next year after successfully completing the training.
