Army Chief General M M Naravane on Tuesday said Pakistan and China formed a \u201cpotent threat\u201d, and the \u201cthreat of collusion\u201d could not be wished away. Addressing an annual press conference in New Delhi, General Naravane said Indian forces had to rise to the occasion in dealing with challenges last year and were \u201cfully prepared\u201d to deal with any threat facing the nation.<\/p>\n

\u201cLast year we had to walk the talk and rise to the occasion in dealing with challenges,\u201d General Naravane was quoted as saying by news agency\u00a0PTI<\/em>. He added, \u201cPakistan and China together form a potent threat, and the threat of collusion cannot be wished away.\u201d<\/p>\n

Amid the standoff with China, General Naravane said India has maintained high alert level along the\u00a0Line of Actual Control (LAC). \u201cWe are ready to meet any eventuality; our operational preparedness is of a very high order,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

General Naravane said he hoped an agreement for disengagement and de-escalation would be reached with China. \u201cWe will hold on to our positions in eastern Ladakh and hope for a solution based on mutual and equal security,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
