VS Pathania Appointed As Indian Coast Guard Additional Director General
Union Defense Ministry has appointed Virender Singh Pathania (VS Pathania) as the Additional Director General of the Indian Coast Guard Headquarters in the national capital Delhi. Pathania’s appointment order was issued by the government on Friday and he will take charge on September 30. The post was lying vacant for months after the previous officer took superannuation. Pathania was earlier in-charge of the Eastern Seaboard of the force in Visakhapatnam. He has served the organization in various functions over the last three and a half decades. In 1977, Indian Coast Guard (ICG) with a meager force and two ships has now developed into a major coastal security force with 156 ships and 62 aircraft. The force became the fourth largest country in the world after the people of America, Britain and South Korea. It is proposed to have 200 ships and 100 aircraft by 2025.
