Army to Buy 1,300 Light Specialist Vehicles
MUMBAI: Defence Ministry has entered into an agreement with Mahindra Defence Systems Ltd (MDSL) for the purchase of 1,300 Light Specialist Vehicles for the Indian Army, at a whopping cost of Rs 1,056 crore. It is expected that the vehicles will become part of the Indian Army fleet in the next four years. “The Light Specialist Vehicle is a contemporary fighting vehicle and will be authorised to various fighting units for the transportation of Medium Machine Guns, Automatic Grenade Launchers as well as Anti-tank Guided Missiles,” reads a communiqué issued by the Defence Ministry.
