Indian Railways has launched ‘Meri Saheli’ initiative which takes care of the safety of women passengers traveling by trains in all areas. This initiative was started in September 2020 as a pilot project in South Eastern Railway. After the positive response received from women passengers, it was extended to all regions and Konkan Railway from 17 October 2020. This ‘Meri Saheli’ initiative has been launched by Railway Protection Force (RPF) “Meri Saheli” initiative for the safety of women passengers during train journey.
