India-Bangladesh Reopen Chilahatihaldibari Rail Link After 55 Years
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina attended the India-Bangladesh Virtual Summit on 17 December 2020. The two jointly inaugurated the Chillhati-Haldibari rail link. With this, 5 of the 6 rail links closed since 1965 will be resumed. Bangladesh is celebrating the 50th anniversary of victory in the 1971 war. This is why this virtual summit was organized. ‘Swadhinta Sadak’ between India and Bangladesh to be inaugurated on 26 March 2021
Bangladesh Foreign Minister, Dr. A.K. Abdul Moman has informed that the ‘Swadhinta Sadak’ between Bangladesh and India will be launched on 26 March 2021. He also said that, this road is operated in India, while it will go through Meherpur, Mujibnagar district to Bangladesh. While informing about this ”Swadhinta Sadak’, the Foreign Minister also mentioned that, there were historical relations between these two countries and these relations have stood the test of time. He has also called this current chapter between India and Bangladesh a ‘Golden Chapter’. Dr. Moman further said that, through discussions and dialogues, both countries have succeeded
