India’s infant mortality rate has fallen to 30, but the decline has slowed in most states over the past five years. This rate is revealed by the data released from the Sample Registration System (SRS). This also shows the huge difference between the states. According to this data, where Kerala’s Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) is at par with the US and Madhya Pradesh’s is worse than Yemen or Sudan. Gita Gopinath Resigns from IMF Chief Economist Post
According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), its chief economist Gita Gopinath will leave her current post in January next year and return to the prestigious Harvard University. This 49-year-old prominent Indian-American economist had joined the International Monetary Fund in January 2019 as the Chief Economist. She was the John Zwanstra Professor of International Studies and Economics at Harvard University when she joined the Washington-based global lender. India’s economic growth rate to be 11.5 percent in 2021: IMF
International Monetary Fund (IMF) has projected India’s economic growth rate to be 11.5 percent in 2021. India is the only country in the large economies among the Coronavirus epidemic (Covid-19) whose economic growth rate will be in the double digits this year. The IMF has forecast growth in its latest world economic scenario released on 26 January 2021. This explains the rapid revival in the economy.
