In a major reform initiative, the Department of Military Affairs (DMA) has recommended significant cuts in pension of premature retirees and raising the retirement age of certain categories of officers. Officials said the DMA’s move, headed by chief defense chief General Bipin Rawat, is part of a series of reforms focused on ensuring adequate use of resources and manpower. What’s in the new proposal ? According to the new proposal, the age of retirement of Colonel, Brigadier and Major General in the Army and their counterparts in the Navy and Air Force would be 57, 58 and 59 years respectively.
