Akash NG Surface To Air Missile Successfully Tested By DRDO
India on Wednesday successfully test-fired a new variant (Akash-NG) of the Akash missile from the Odisha coast. Official sources said the missile, equipped with all types of weapon systems, was test-fired from a ground-based platform at around 1.45 pm (12:45). Hyderabad-based Defense Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL) has developed this missile system in collaboration with the laboratories of Defense Research Development Organization (DRDO). Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) on Monday successfully test-fired the New Generation Akash-NG missile (Akash-NG) amidst ongoing tension from China over the Line of Actual Control (LAC). The test was carried out from the Integrated Test Range off the coast of Odisha, where the missile successfully demolished its torget. Akash-NG is a new-generation surface-to-air missile, which will be used by the Indian Air Force with the aim of preventing high maneuvering air threats.
