IAF Short of Pilots Against Authorised Strength
NEW DELHI: The Indian Air Force has a shortage of 405 pilots against the authorised strength, the government said in a written reply to Lok Sabha. Minister of State for Defence Shripad Naik while replying to queries in Lok Sabha said that the number of pilots in the Indian Air Force at present is 3,834 as which is short by 405 against the sanctioned strength of 4,239. “There is a shortage of 405 pilots in the IAF,” he said while answering the queries by other Parliamentarians. NEW DELHI: The Apex Court while hearing a petition over non-implementation of its earlier order to grant permanent commission to women has ruled that the medical fitness conditions for ‘fair sex’ (women) to get Permanent Commission in the Indian Army is completely illogical and absurd. The Supreme Court also stated that women officers should be considered for permanent commission (PC). NEW DELHI: Nearly 1, 07,000 positions are lying vacant in the armed forces. The figure for vacant posts in Indian Army is at all-time high with around 86,000 vacancies. Army to Buy 1,300 Light Specialist Vehicles
MUMBAI: Defence Ministry has entered into an agreement with Mahindra Defence Systems Ltd (MDSL) for the purchase of 1,300 Light Specialist Vehicles for the Indian Army, at a whopping cost of Rs 1,056 crore.
