First three submarines to be built in India will be 95% ‘Made in India’
To increase its strength at sea, India will soon get three nuclear attack submarines. These three submarines will be 95 percent indigenous. After this, three more such submarines will be made. Indigenous submarine manufacturing capacity is going to increase drastically. The Cabinet Committee on Security is considering a proposal of about Rs 50,000 crore for indigenous construction of three nuclear submarines. These submarines will be built by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) in Visakhapatnam. This project is different from the Arihant category project. There has been an increase in the intake of cadets by the National Defense Academy (NDA), Pune, in order to cater to the shortfall of officers in the armed forces. This year the intake will be increased to 400 cadets. This decision was also made by keeping the demand to train the foreign cadets, and the ground duty cadets of the Indian Air Force (IAF) in mind.
