Making Gujarat India’s Defence Factory

GANDHINAGAR: Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani has taken a resolve to turn the state into India’s Defence Factory within the next 2-3 years. Explaining his vision to media persons, he said, “Gujarat not only allows the industries to localize supply chains and de-risk their operations but also reinforce the local ecosystem, which enables them to create lucrative and prolong solutions. We are striving hard to become the biggest contributor to

Prime Minister’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. Our aim is to relentlessly improve the industrial infrastructure and environment of the state for making it future-ready. We are initiating dialogue with the Union Government, trade organisations, export promotion organisations, MSME’s to bring a turnaround and ensure that Gujarat is always a preferred destination for investments in India.”

“We are in the process of making Gujarat, the defence factory of India. The success of L&T’s K9 Vajra and its on-time completion at Hazira defence unit has placed Gujarat as the front runner in setting up a complex defence ecosystem. Yes, you have heard, it right! Some of the top investment in defence is already being marked to set up in Dholera, which includes:

Tata Advanced Systems Ltd. – 1000 Acres (Defence), Vedanta Group – 200 Acres (Semiconductor) and SMPP Pvt. Ltd. – 800 to 1000 Acres (Ammunition & Artillery manufacturing). We have kicked off the process of making a Modern Gujarat that spearheads the vision of a Modern India.
